Kurzfassung
The cooperation of Dual-Pilot cockpit crews during commercial flight operations is characterized with efficient information processing and the management of aircraft systems. During research of future cockpit concepts, different layouts are being worked out to improve this collaboration. Inside Single-Pilot-Operations (SPO), the pilot on board the aircraft is supported either by a Remote-Co-Pilot (RCP) at a ground station or with the help of advanced assistance systems, called Virtual-Co-Pilot (VCP). A commercial flight in the configuration of a SP with a RCP faces challenges that are investigated in this thesis. Preliminary tests showed problems in the exchange of information and the support of the SP through the RCP. In order to improve the cooperation of SP and RCP the approach of a collaborative workspace is analyzed. For the evaluation of this concept, a demonstrator of the "Missiondisplay" is developed and integrated into a SP-adapted Airbus A320 flight simulator at the DLR Institute of Flight Guidance. A test scenario is simulating an environment where participants - commercial pilots - deal with a major technical failure in bad weather conditions. This evaluates the collaborative workspace by using it to exchange information in high workload conditions and manual flight. The results of the prototypical evaluation of the concept provide a basis for further research of SP and RCP collaboration and identify challenges of this constellation.
