Kurzfassung
It is expected that automated and autonomous vehicles will fundamentally change the mobility of people and goods, the transport system, spatial development and the urban and road design. In the presented study, we explore the question of which regulatory measures should be taken to exploit the opportunities that autonomous transport can offer for sustainable urban mobility. A mixed methods approach is applied by combining a stakeholder workshop with a two round Delphi expert-based survey, conducted in different European cities. Our findings are integrated in future scenarios of automated road transport impacts on urban mobility that combine technological possibilities with the needs of citizens and aspects such as transport services, street design and the urban environment. The results show, that the two resulting scenarios describing an 'expected scenario' and a 'desired scenario' of regulatory measures are differing in terms of number and direction of regulatory measures. In our contribution we presented the results of both studies and discussed potential conclusions for future processes regarding regulations for automated road transport in the context of sustainable urban mobility.
