Abstract

The test facility P5 of DLR Lampoldshausen is modified in preparation for test campaigns with the engine precursor Prometheus. The modifications contain as well the installation of new systems as also the update and extension of existing systems. With these modifications the test facility P5 is highly versatile, allowing for full engine tests with a variety of fuels, high range of thrust and new digital control solutions, while retaining control and safety of the test specimen. This paper includes the details of the modifications and connected requirements as well as the capabilities the test facility can offer for testing of advanced rocket engines. The current status of the modifications is shown and an outlook is presented for the remaining tasks until test readiness.
