Abstract

The DLR Institute of Space Propulsion targets the further development of sustainable technologies based on hydrogen generated from renewable energy sources. The technological know-how in handling large quantities of hydrogen and large hydrogen facilities, which the DLR Institute of Space Propulsion has acquired over decades in the planning, construction and operation of its test facilities for rocket propulsion systems, is to be made available to industry by technology transfer in the projects Zero Emission and H2ORIZON. Furthermore, research topics set path to a carbon-free research site and concrete steps to reduce emissions in the heat and electricity generation as well as the green hydrogen production were taken and led to a reduction of CO2 emissions at the DLR- Site of more than 65%.
