Abstract
Current FC truck deployments use the 35 MPa pressure storage technology. New H2 fuel options with increased energy density are being tested (70 MPa, sLH2, CcH2). For successful and rapid uptake of heavy-duty long-distance FC trucks an interoperable pan-European refuelling network is a mandatory precondition. Therefore, Industry & RCS bodies should push for timely development & int. standardisation of refuelling protocols & nozzels, Politics (EU) should adopt the AFIR with H2 infrastructure targets in a timely manner, Industry (vehicle & Infrastructure) should jointly decide on future hydrogen fuel options and Industry (energy & infrastructure) should prepare for upscaling & ramp-up of fuel supply technology (esp. LH2).
