Abstract

This paper presents a new motion compensation (MoCo) algorithm for airborne synthetic aperture radar (SAR). The new technique was designed to overcome limitations in the conventional beam-center MoCo (BCMoCo) - a time domain based algorithm - and subaperture topography - and aperturedependent (SATA) - a frequency domain based algorithm - by mixing core ideias from both. After an analysis of both algorithms, a comparison between them using an interferogram is made, highlighting each of the algorithms shortcomings. Ideas to overcome such shortcomings are presented, and the new MoCo is defined from that. Later further comparison between the MoCos algorithms is done.
