Abstract

A 5 kW motor-inverter test bed is presented, which will be used for the measurement of conducted electromagnetic emissions. The main difference to other test beds is the implementation of fault injection devices to investigate the emission behaviour during faults (Earth faults, phase shorts etc.). Load break switches and complex resistance allow a smooth transition from a normal operation mode into an imbalanced condition. The acquired data will be used for validation of a simulation model, that is designed to scale up the power of the motor-inverter combination and simulate its electromagnetic emissions. Furthermore, an EMI filter is planned to be designed based on the acquired data. This filter will be integrated into the test bed and further measurements will be conducted. This would allow to verify that with a given filter, the emissions will be limited to an acceptable level.
