Do You Know What I Know? - Investigating and Enhancing Transactive Memory Systems in Multi-Team Systems

Abstract

The project “Inter-Team Collaboration” (ITC) aims to provide system engineers with tools and concepts for human factors that allow systemic access to the social side of socio-technical systems. A main question is how to induce collaborative decision-making within the dynamic environment of air traffic management (ATM) in order to make it more adaptive and resilient. The main assumption is that the establishment of a transactive memory system (TMS) can serve as the foundation for more successful collaboration in multi-team systems (MTS) in ATM. Approaches to enhancing and measuring TMS structures in MTS are gathered and discussed in the context of applying them in a laboratory study as well as in large-scale simulations.
