Abstract

Laser beam propagation through the atmosphere is in many interesting cases severely affected by turbulence. Pre-compensating the phase can be achieved via a tiled aperture coherent coupling approach by dynamic adjustment of the piston phases of the individual laser emitters. Employing a novel numerical approach, the capability of such a system regarding the mitigation of turbulent aberrations can be investigated and its dependence on crucial parameters such as the telescope diameter, the number of emitters and others quantified.
