Joint German-Israeli Research Program on Metallized Gel Fuels and Propellants

Abstract

In the framework of the "Joint German-Israeli Research Program on Metallized Gel Fuels and Propellants" the Technion in Haifa and the DLR Space Propulsion Institute in Lampoldshausen are working closely on the investigation of processes and phenomena which are relevant for the combustion of gel fuels containing metal particles. This basic research activity shal contribute to a better physical understanding of the governing processes in this field. The three year program has been started in January 2000 and consists of four work packages dealing with rheological and physical properties (WP 1000), combustion of single gel droplets (WP 2000), spray characteristics (WP 3000) and combustion characteristics (WP 4000). During the 3rd program meeting at the DLR - Space Propulsion Institute at Lampoldshausen in Germany on June 24th, 2002 the attained work progress at both research sites has been presented and discussed. Possible new tasks for a possible second term of this basic research program have also been identified and discussed. This report contains the minutes of this meeting and the copies of the scientific presentations´ transperencies within the scope of this joint program.
