Abstract
Vehicles with at least one electric motor and an electric energy supply system for vehicle propulsion are subsumed under the term Electric Vehicle (EV). Focusing on EVs for road use having one or more electric motors and a battery which is charged from the power grid, this article gives an overview of the technical aspects of the EV concept. The EV concept is assessed in relation to conventional vehicles and the activity space effects of EVs as well as the user experience and behavior in EV usage are discussed as well.
