Abstract

Particle image velocimetry (PIV) is used to investigate the flow field in the supersonic model combustion chamber of the LAERTE test facility. Two-dimensional velocity fields are measured in flow regions with and without combustion yielding flow velocities up to 1600 m/s. The mixing layer between the fuel and the air flows, shock waves and vorticies inside the mixing layer can be clearly identified. The measured velocities are in good agreement with LDV measurements.
