Abstract

This paper presents a concept study for an air-to-air refueling display, which was developed for helicopter use. Based on the designed functions, the pilots should be able to make the refueling process in the air safer and stress reduced. In addition to the presentation of three different refueling procedures, this work contains an overview of the animated displays of a helicopter cockpit of the type EC135 T2. Within the scope of the display development, pilot interviews were conducted to evaluate the initially created display designs. The questions, corresponding results and evaluations of the interviews are also part of this term paper. An outlook for further possible development steps of the Refueling Display is given. In particular with regard to the system implementation in a flight simulator for the training design of in-flight refueling.
