Structural Dynamics Tests on the WIONA model

Kurzfassung

ONERA/DDSS and DLR Institute of Aeroelasticity have been working together for the WIONA project since April 2000. The main goal of this project is to study the aeroelastic flutter stability in an extended transsonic speed range. Especially non-linear transsonic aeroelastic problems due to nacelle oscillations are taken into account. That is why a wing model with an oscillating nacelle has been designed and will be tested in wind-tunnel. To get an impression of the flutter properties two ground vibration tests were performed by the DLR Institute of Aeroelasticity in November 2003. The result of the tests are the modeshapes and their properties, like frequencies, damping and masses. The tests were performed in the testhall on a fixed support as well as in the wind-tunnel.
