Abstract

The SpaceLiner Booster shall perform a re-entry maneuver after separation from the SpaceLiner Passenger stage, followed by a subsonic gliding flight. While in the subsonic flight regime the SpaceLiner is supposed to be captured by a towing aircraft (In-Air-Capturing). Therefore, the towing aircraft shall be equipped with a aerodynamically controllable device that is supposed to capture the SLB. This maneuver shall be calculated and simulated with 6 DOF within the DLR project AKIRA. Prior to this calculation, a valid and adequate aerodynamic model has to be created including static and dynamic derivatives. For this purpose, the software kit Missile DATCOM was used and the results are presented in this report.
