Abstract

A summary of past experimental studies on trailing-edge noise reduction by means of porous materials is provided. This review consequently collects the experimental setbacks and hindrances in material characterization, robustness of targeted material properties, and aeroacoustic installation issues. Potential noise reduction mechanisms are discussed along with dedicated results from numerical simulations.
