Abstract

This paper deals with the basic steps necessary for the verification and validation of a solver for hybrid unstrutured grids, namely DLR's adaptive Navier-Stokes solver TAU. A number of examples used in validation of the code for 2D and 3D steady and unsteady cases is discussed. Besides validation aspects arising from the turbulence modelling necessity aspects of grid dependence will be tackled. Here, one is faced with the situation grid independence studies are not easily made on unstructurted hybrid grids, although the adaptation feature of the TAU code alleviates the situation somewhat.
