Abstract
The present status of development and calibration of the High Enthalpy Shock Tunnel at DLR Göttingen (HEG) is presented. Tunnel characteristics operating conditions, test techniques and areas of study are summarised. Operational difficulties common to high enthalpy facilities (e.g. nozzle disturbances, contamination) are discussed and, where appropriate, solutions discussed. Planned future work on HEG (supersonic combustion, force measurements, optical techniques) and refinement of CFD tools are alluded to
