Kurzfassung
The trend towards urbanization increases the need for highly available public transportation. Nevertheless, the majority of society demands for individual transport too. Generally, the goal is to increase capacity and safety while reducing costs, accidents, and environmental impact. Not only the railway industry but also the automotive industry focuses on automation, digitization, and wireless communications to cope with increasing numbers of vehicles on the rail and road. These two industries may rely on the same communications technologies for connected intelligent transportation system (C-ITS) in the future. In the project V2X-DuRail, we investigate the coexistence of rail and road ITS in urban environments. Therefore, we perform measurements with different V2X communication technologies for C-ITS and a technology independent channel sounder between cars and a train in urban scenarios.
