Abstract
The arc heated facility LBK is presented with a detailed description of the components of its upgraded test leg L3K. Intrusive and non-intusive measurement techniques for the determination of pressure, surface temperature, heat flux rate as well as temperatures and concentration of some gas species are described. Measured Pitot pressure profiles are compared with the results of numerical calculations. The performance of both, L2K and L3K, facilities with respect to their reservoir conditions and surface parameters of a stagnation point model are defined. The use of the facilities concerning different applications is discussed
