Presentation of Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV) technique to industry and workshop on application of PIV in aerodynamics

Abstract

PivNet is a Thematic Network funded by EC. PivNet is composed of 44 partners originating from industry, research organisations and university. Many of them participate in European research programs like Brite-EuRam, JOULE, THERMIE etc. Industrial partners originate from both the PIV users and PIV manufacturers sides. They come from 13 different European countries and among the 44, 17 are industrials and 8 are large aeronautics, ground transportation and turbomachinery industry. Beside the primary PivNet consortium, another 50 teams participate in an interest group (ERCOFTAC SIG32) and this is also taken into account in the net structure. PivNet started at the end of 1997 and will run for 4 years. The objective of PivNet presentations to industrial end users. During the PivNet workshop the capabilities of PIV in different areas will be presented by the developers. The objective is to disseminate condensed information to industrial end users on such topics, which had been subject of the PivNet work before. The industrial partners will comment on this and discuss their needs. Contacts will be established between developers of the new technique and the co-ordinators of Brite-EuRam projects in order to be able to prepare new proposals for the next framewok program
