Abstract

Our aim is to extend the discrete mode matching method to analyze fibers or transmission lines with anisotropic elliptical dielectric layers. To derive the mathematical formulation, we deal with elliptical coordinate system. We then calculate hybrid matrices for the elliptical dielectric layers to generate the system equation of the multilayered structure. To demonstrate the technique, we analyze elliptical waveguides and compare the results with the open literature and commercial software.
