Abstract

We present an assessment of carbon monoxide (CO) total column retrievals from TROPOMI (TROPOspheric Monitoring Instrument) Short-Wave Infrared (SWIR) observations aboard Sentinel-5P (S5P). The Level1-2 processing is accomplished by using the Beer Infrared Retrieval Algorithm (BIRRA) which performs a least squares fit of Earth's radiance (essentially transmission) to retrieve the molecular column densities (essentially density scaling factors) along with some auxiliary parameters (reflectivity etc.) [Gimeno Garcia et al., AMT 2011; Hochstaffl et al., Remote Sens. 2018].
