Kurzfassung
In this paper examples of the fruitful cooperation between the Northwestern Polytechnical University, Xi'an, China (NPU) and the Institute of Design Aerodynamics on the field of transonic airfoil andwing research are presented. The first period between 1980 and 1990 will be referred to where the main activities lay on airfoil and wing designs combined with extensive windtunnel measurements of 2D airfoils in both, Chinese and German facilities. Further the topics of cooperation in the time 1990 to 2000 will be illustrated. It has been dominated by the development of design codes, code testing and code comparisons. For example a 3D coupled transonic potential - boundary layer code has been generated and tested in that time. This code represents a fast and easy tool for the prediction of transonic wing flow under consideration of the laminar-turbulent boundary layer with prescribed transition.
