Abstract

Molten halogen salts have promising applications in large scale energy storage, such as thermal energy storage, electricity storage. They can be used as thermal energy storage materials at temperatures up to 800°C in concentrated solar power (CSP) plants. Besides this, they can be used as the molten salt electrolyte in liquid metal batteries for large scale electricity storage. This presentaion Shows the progress in research and development of molten halogen salts for these applications.
