Kurzfassung
Up to now methods for aerodynamic design and optimization are based on linear theory and could not model non-linear phenomenons. Their results represent only approximations of real optima. In order to improve these approximations the DLR is working on new methods based on non-linear theory, i.e. the solution of the Euler-/Navier-Stokes equations. Therefore the grid generation system MegaCads and the flow solver FLOWer as well as CEVCATS are couples with optimization algorithms. The structure of the method for high velocity configurations is shown, the individual components are described. Optimizations of reentry capsules with respect to an increase of lift to drag ratios are presented. Obtained results are compared with results of methods based on linear theory.
