Kurzfassung
The crosswind stability assessment of a high-speed train is potentially sensitive to the modelling of transient exposure to a crosswind (as occurs in real-world operation) rather than steady crosswind exposure (as is commonly modelled in wind-tunnel and numerical simulations). To investigate this, the capability of the existing reduced-scale moving-model facility at DLR Göttingen is being developed to replicate a transient crosswind, utilizing a crosswind tunnel as well as obtain measurements on-board the moving-models. Functionality of the facility and measurement system have been demonstrated. Further, initial transient surface-pressure results indicating a difference between stationary and transient experimental modelling, and thus assessment of a high-speed trains crosswind stability.
