Abstract

In this study a simplified setup of shock/vortex-interaction was considered numerically. An oblique shock was created by a ramp in supersonic flow. A laminar Burgers vortex was then introduced upstream of the shock by modifying the inlet boundary condition of the simulation. The resulting baseflows were then analyzed with a tri-global stability analysis to identify the instability leading to vortex-breakdown.
