Abstract

Synthetic fuels based on renewable energies are required for the future decarbonized energy supply. To produce synthetic fuels, the stable carbon sources that are also available in a renewable energy system in the long term are required. In certain industries (e.g. cement and iron &steel), there are some industrial processes that generate CO2, which however cannot or with great difficulty be replaced with other processes. In order to assess the regional distribution of production of synthetic fuels and the use of CO2 sources, a quantitative and qualitative assessment is necessary that analyzes the CO2 potential.
