Abstract
Shape-variable structures for aviation are developed to increase the efficiency in the different flight phases. Those structures can adapt to the various environmental conditions. A concept to control these structures is based on the use of pressure-actuated cells. The aim of the current bachelor thesis is to develop a design tool that enables the conceptional design of pressure-acuated cells for the use in the trailing edge of a shape-variable wing. The main function of these actuators is the ability of deforming their structure. The first step within the bachelor thesis is the further development of cells. That is neccesarry for implantation of a concept regarding the burden of aerodynamic loadings. For a better understanding of these pressure-actuated cells the identification of the decisive design parameters follows. Additionally their impact of relevant cell deformations is defined. The tool enables the preliminary design of the descripted concept to prove the principal feasibility under previously defined marginal conditions. On the basis of the finite element method a numerical design tool is designed to shape conceptual optimized pressure-actuated cells. Finally the tool will be demonstrated with the aid of an application and its functionality will be assessed.
