Abstract

For the successful integration of high shares of variable renewable energy (RE) in electricity systems, electricity consumption has to be taken into consideration on a regional scale. This is necessary in order to be able to assess flexibility options. This thesis presents a top-down method to create load profiles on NUTS 3 level for European countries. The industrial profile is derived via a residual approach from German standard load profiles and the respective ENTSO-E load curve. Regionalization of power consumption in the household sector is based on population figures. Power demand in tertiary and industrial sector are distributed via figures on gross value added (GVA). The spatiotemporal approach requires comparatively little data. Simultaneity of demand between regions is reduced, whilst the representation of structural differences is enabled. The exemplary pplication of the method to France showed a limited suitability for transfer, since the temperaturedependency of household demand is not sufficiently considered. The employed load profiles could be locally adapted on the basis of regional measurements.
