Abstract

This work focuses on the design and construction of an actuator to damp T-S waves within a laminar boundary layer in order to delay transition. To reduce the mechanical complexity of the actuator the electrorheological effect will be employed to force a membrane into a high frequent oscillation. In order to determine critical design parameters a numerical model of the actuator is developed. This model includes fluid-structure-interaction and couples the constitutive equation of the electrorheological fluid to the Maxwell’s equations.
