Abstract
Production of solar hydrogen through coupling concentrated solar energy with high temperature steam electrolysis in a Solid Oxide Electrolyser is studied experimentally. A solar interface has been developed and constructed in order to produce superheated steam from water and to deliver it to a high temperature electrolyser in which hydrogen is produced. Several tests campaigns were performed at DLR’s solar simulator in Cologne, Germany. The solar interface has been successfully tested providing 2 kg/h steam at homogeneous and steady pressure and temperature levels for the electrolyser. Thus, the feasibility of a solar-powered Solid Oxide Electrolyser system has been proved.
