The DLR Institute of Data Science

Kurzfassung

In the summer of 2017 the new Institute of Data Science was founded in Jena. With this institute German Aerospace Center (DLR) addresses important challenges arising in the current era of Big Data focusing specifically on data management, data integration, analysis, and visual analytics. Other related areas of interest include citizen science, Industry 4.0, IT security, and other topics inspired by DLR's work in many different domains. The presentation will introduce the institute and its initial working groups. In particular, we will showcase the group for data management technologies and its objectives. Our group is concerned with both the efficient storage and access of data as well as suitable descriptions that allow users to easily discover the dataset they are looking for.
