Abstract

Since the release of the first artificial satellite Sputnik1 to the earth orbit, the number of man-made orbital objects has steadily increased. To assess the risk to life and property, a continuous monitoring and surveillance of the earth orbit is desired and required. This master thesis presents a possible solution with an autonomous passive-optical staring system for the detection and mapping of space objects.
