Abstract

New requirements and restrictions, but also degrees of freedom for vehicle concepts have resulted as part of electric mobility. New development approaches as well as a holistic consideration of the vehicle and its subsystems are necessary to meet the changed boundary conditions. Together with the University of Stuttgart's Institute of Internal Combustion Engines and Automotive Engineering, the Institute of Vehicle Concepts at the German Aerospace Centre is developing the chassis/drivetrain unit Leicht (Lightweight Energy-efficient Integrative Chassis with Hub-motor Technology) in the project DLR@UniST. Hereby synergies among individually driven wheels, lightweight suspension and driving strategy are being identified and exploited.
