Abstract

Experiments with the Temperature-Sensitive Paint (TSP) technique were performed in the laminar water channel of the University of Stuttgart. A cylinder in the boundary layer of a Blasius flow is investigated. Aside from wall-bound flow visualization with TSP further evaluation of the data was performed to derive the absolute of the skin friction field behind the cylinder. These results are compared with results received from hot film measurements and are in excellent agreement. The equations allowing the evaluation of the skin friction are used to define the limitations of the application of the TSP technique in the laminar water channel facility.
