This deliverable describes the DLR-FA investigations in the workpackage regarding shielding aspects for the rear-end fuselage. Rear-end mounted engines, like the open rotor engines, have significant impact on the rear-end fuselage design. Therefore, a new material (triaxial braided carbon fiber fabric) is investigated in comparison to a reference matrial (T700). Impact simulations (Low energy) are conducted to show the damage of the rear-end structure for multiple impact damages. In order to investigate the shielding capabilities of the new materials manufacturing test are made and the resulting plates are tested with non-destructive analysis.
