Abstract

The present work aims at contributing to a better understanding of the effect of rotation on the stability properties of boundary layers. For this purpose, the Parabolized-Stability-Equations based NOLOT code was extended to rotating reference frames through the inclusion of the centrifugal and Coriolis forces. Stability analyses of three flow configurations were then considered for verification: the rotating Blasius profile, the flow along a curved wall and the three-dimensional flow due to a rotating disk. Excellent agreements are observed in the results in comparison with the literature.
