Abstract

The m8 band region of BrONO2 around 14 mm has been studied at high resolution. The band structure is highly similar to the nu8 band of ClONO2: in addition to very regular Q branches at the low energy side of the band and the main nu8 Q branch located at 722.4 cm-1, a second Q branch is visible at 723.9 cm-1. When attributing this peak to the nu8+nu9 - nu9 band center (as in ClONO2), together with a very weak band observed at 835.8 cm-1, one can determine the nu9 band center to be 111.9 (7) cm-1, in agreement with ab initio calculations.
