Abstract

Long-term energy scenario studies conducted by the DLR energy systems analysis contributed to demonstrate opportunities, challenges and benefits of the German energy transition. This contribution reflects targets, current trends and selected pathways for a target-oriented expansion of renewable energy technologies and presents estimations of main economic effects. Main elements of an energy system based on renewable energies are discussed and conclusions about major strategies and further research need are drawn.
