Kurzfassung
Recent glacier surface elevation changes are obtained with unprecedented coverage and accuracy using multitemporal bistatic InSAR DEMs acquired by the TanDEM-X mission launched in 2010 and still ongoing. The geodetic method is used to compute the mass balance and the corresponding contribution to sea level rise. The investigated glaciers are located in the Northern and Southern Patagonian Icefields (NPI, SPI), which are extremely dynamic and underwent strong downwasting in the last decades. The uncertainty of the results is assessed, also by considering critical aspects such as radar signal penetration in snow and ice.
