Abstract

The paper presents the extension of the discrete mode matching (DMM) method to analyze planar microstrip antennas on uniaxial anisotropic substrate. All layers may have both electric and magnetic anisotropies. First, the numerical procedure is presented, followed by its application to compute complex resonant frequency and bandwidth of microstrip patch antennas. Validation has been done with open literature and good agreement has been observed between the results.
