Core noise generation in aero-engines, originating from the combustor and the combustor-turbine interaction, are the focus of the EC funded RECORD project (Research on Core Noise Reduction). The structure of the project is set up by three major test cases, a generic nozzle test case, a combustor test case and a turbine test case as well as by a full scale exploitation work package. Within this exploitation work package the developed, improved and validated core noise prediction and simulation methods were finally compared to full scale aero-engine noise data. RECORD covers a broad TRL spectrum from lab scale based experimental test cases aiming at the validation of prediction methods to rules for full scale design processes.
