Abstract

F-SAR has a limitation for its operational use when operating at P-Band (UHF, 300 – 500MHz). Operation in the vicinity to any airport equipped with an ILS system (here: glide slope and localizer) is currently at any altitude limited to areas outside a rectangular box of 10x20sqnm as noted in the FHA [A1] and the aircraft flight manual supplements [A2] and [A3]. Laboratory tests on the F-SAR P2-band configuration have been carried out to show the real performance of the radar when operating in the 410 – 460MHz band. This report summarizes the results and information obtained.
