Abstract

F-SAR is presently limited in operation near airports equipped with ILS glide slope installations while making measurements in P-band [UHF]. However, the requirement of delivering calibrated radar data to customers sometimes interferes with this limitation as airports are ideal for setting-up radar calibration devices in controlled areas. In cases where we ultimately have to install the calibration devices on an airfield the present airspace limitation hinders the success of the mission. The laboratory measurements described here shall deliver radar performance information allowing better judgement of the interference situation between GS receivers on board other aircraft approaching to land and F-SAR operating in P2-band (410 – 460MHz) overhead the same airfield at a minimum altitude of 2000m above ground level.
