Kurzfassung
The paper presents results of studies conducted in Full Mission Ship Bridge Simulator (FMBS) which aimed to define the role of EGNOS from marine user perspective focused on the possible benefits of SBAS integrity data presentation within the ship’s bridge environment. The research led to construction of MVPA (marine vessel protection area) model for ships navigating in limited water areas and utilizing precise navigation by fusion of EGNOS integrity data with course / heading error estimates. The model took into consideration several aspects, influencing MVPA area dimensions, like scale factors, ship’s size, ship’s heading accuracy, position of the GNSS antenna, GNSS / EGNOS integrity data. The output from this model was displayed graphically within ECDIS (Electronic Chart Display and Information System) environment as ship’s uncertainty area. This ECDIS layer constituted an EGNOS integrity display within bridge environment showing graphical representation of the ship and integrity information (protection levels in conjunction with alert limits).
