Abstract
A numerical study of secondary injection thrust vectoring for a generic missile was undertaken and the results are compared with the ones of conventional side jet control. Furthermore, it was investigated how the secondary injection jet performs in pure side jet control when the rocket engine is switched off. At high altitude the thrust vectoring shows superior results. However, these results cannot be sustained when the rocket engine is switched off, mainly due to an unbeneficial impact of the secondary injection at the rocket engine wall. But with an optimization of the injection nozzle geometry this unwanted effect can be minimized.
