Abstract
We investigate the investment dynamics of residential photovoltaics (PV) in Germany over the years of 2004-2014. As it turns out, the question of when people invest in PV systems is found to be not only determined by profitability, but also by its relative change over time. We interpret this finding in the light loss aversion, a concept developed in Kahneman and Tversky’s Prospect Theory.
