Abstract

The importance of helicopters in past and current military operations is widely recognized. Further, research has advanced the state of technology such that much greater capability is achievable. To that end the NATO, Science & Technology Organization (STO) formed a task group under the Applied Vehicle Technology (AVT) panel to explore what activities are ongoing across NATO and to develop a strategy to realize these capabilities. The AVT-245 Specialists' Meeting was held 12-15 October 2015 as part of the AVT Panel meeting in Prague, Czech Republic. 19 papers were presented over a Keynote and four technical sessions to an audience of 60 persons representing 10 NATO Nations. Considerable discussion was held across the major areas that were identified and considered essential to achieving advanced capabilities: Programmes, Configurations, Regulation, and Technologies.
